Is one of my favorite photographers. The series of him and his father is very moving.

A Walking Tour

I just got back a little while ago from papering my neighborhood with no less than 300 flyers for a missing cat. A cat that is now, thank god, sitting smugly on my roomate’s bed. However, the only plus side to this whole endeavor was the fact that I walked all around my neighborhood - even in people’s yards.

When is the last time an adult person gets to do such things? I miss exploring. There is something exciting about discovering new things in your own backyard.

Organizing.

Organizing in Real Time.

I recently purchased one of those shoe containers with clear pockets in a fit of much needed room organization. Upon seeing great it worked, I got another one for the odds and ends that everyone has but can never seem to find - and it the process, found out I’ve got duplicates of several items, simply becuase I couldn’t find the original. It made me think about the way I’m used to organizing things on my computer versus my real life - in both circumstances, I can be haphazard in my routines for saving files to the right folders. However, I remember the name of the files, generally, and so if I can’t find something I’ll just do a Command + F.

Online tasks are often modeled upon real-life abilities - as reminded to us by this beautiful representation of Adobe Photoshop in real life. However, lately I’ve been looking for the Command + F button in other circumstances of my life - when reading text on a printed page. Additionally, when I look for an item, I’ll wish that there was a shortcut instead of say, digging through a pile of clothes. I think this new organizational system of mine speaks to that desire - instead of hidden in boxes, stuff is in transparent containers, which is almost as good as hitting a button.
